Legendary Ford Performance
A 7.3L V8 gas engine delivers more than enough power and comes standard on the Ford F-650, and Ford F-750. An optional 320-horsepower 6.8L Triton V10 offers the perfect solution for the budget-minded buyers who need class 6-7 capability. Ford also offers a CNG/Propane Gaseous Engine Prep Package with the Triton V-10. The standard Ford-built TorqShift HD 6-speed automatic transmission features a live-drive power takeoff (PTO) provision which is available in stationary and mobile modes. Diesel buyers have three Power Stroke Turbo Diesel V8 options to choose from - a 6.7L with a power rating of 270 hp/93 kg.-metre of torque, a 300-HP/97 kg.-metre of torque, and a 330-HP/100 kg.-metre of torque.
All three engines feature a unique inverse-flow design that locates the turbocharger at the top of the engine block between the cylinders. It also places the exhaust manifold inboard and close to the turbo.
This placement provides faster air displacement and more power. Each engine also comes with a driver-activated engine exhaust braking system. The system provides seamless braking and reduced brake wear on downhill grades by creating back pressure through restricting exhaust flow.

Thanks to extensive testing and "Built Ford Tough" engineering, the Ford F-650 and Ford F-750 handle everything that comes their way, without compromise. Ford tested the Power Stroke Turbo Diesel V8, for example, for more than 500,000 simulated customer miles. Designed with a 3-plate/2-stage torque converter and gear sets and strengthened with extra pinion gears, the Ford TorqShift HD 6-speed automatic transmission easily handles the heavy demands of the truck's V8 turbo diesel and V10 gas engines. A choice of two gear modes - Progressive Range Select that limits the range of gears to lock out overdrive, and full manual control - take the stress out of hauling large loads. A tow/haul feature selects the gear that minimizes gear hunting on uphill runs. It also prevents upshifting and increased speed on downhill runs, and reduces driver reliance on brake pressure to slow the truck down.

Offered by Ford Commercial Solutions, Ford OEM-Grade telematics software lets fleet managers and businesses improve their operations by integrating vehicle data with their existing telematics service provider. The software can also send vehicle data directly to a business's IT system - giving them the power of choice. The Telematics software is simple to use and easy to configure. It allows Ford truck owners to make the most of vehicle availability and optimizes utilization and operating costs, as well. Ford Data Services are easily accessed through the Transportation Mobility Cloud (TMC).
