What Makes the Chevrolet Express 2500 a Great Work Van?
Posted on February 26, 2020
With so many work vans on the market today, buyers have their hand's full, finding just the right truck to fit their business needs. Some come with extra cargo space, some offer extra power, while others feature high-end car-like cabins. The new Chevrolet Express 2500 offers just enough of all three to make it one of the most popular work vans on the road today.
Enough Room for the Big Jobs
The new Express 2500 feels big because it is big. Passengers enjoy over 104-cm of headroom, 105-cm of
legroom, 175-cm of shoulder room, and 168-cm of hip room. With a cargo box at 132-cm wide, 140-cm
tall, and 391-cm long (to front console), the Express 2500 has room for lots of cargo. Extended wheelbase editions add 48-cm of length, as well. Twenty-five centimetres of ground clearance also helps the Express handle moderate amounts of snow.
Always Power to Spare
The new Express 2500 always has power to spare thanks to a standard 276-horsepower 4.3L V6 engine
featuring Variable Valve Timing and Direct Injection. Buyers looking for more power should find the
optional 341-horsepower 6.0L Vortec V8 (also available in CNG/LPG fuel editions) more than adequate.
The larger engine gets a heavy-duty Hydra-Matic 6-speed automatic transmission with auto-grade braking and Tap-Up/Tap-Down Driver Shift Control. Chevrolet also offers the Express 2500 with a smaller but still powerful 181-horsepower 2.8L 4-cylinder Duramax Turbo-Diesel with a maximum towing capability of almost 3,200 kilograms. All models come with Tow/Haul mode and Powertrain Braking. Cruise Grade Braking, also standard on all models, automatically downshifts to slow the Express to a cruise set speed as it drives downhill.
An Exceptionally Comfortable Cabin
The Chevrolet Express 2500 only comes in one trim, which means that the typical amenities fall into one
of two categories - standard, or optional. Most buyers will be more than happy with the Express as it
comes from the factory. Notable standard features include air conditioning, driver and front passenger
high-back bucket seats, and power windows and doors. The Express 2500 also comes with a Chevrolet
infotainment system that features an AM/FM stereo with MP3 playback capability, 4G LTE Wi-Fi
hotspot capability, and Chevrolet Connected Services with OnStar. The Chevrolet Communications
Package adds SiriusXM Radio, Bluetooth connectivity, a CD player, and a leather-wrapped steering
wheel with built-in audio controls. The package also ups the engine to the Vortec 6.0L V8.
Easily Customized
The Express 2500 offers a variety of options that make it easy to customize for every business need.
Several available equipment packages add room to store gear while standard or available features like
hinged cargo doors, rear swing-out doors, and a sliding side cargo door make getting cargo in and out a
breeze. Chevrolet also makes this year's Express 2500 van with an available Cargo Crew option that
offers seating for up to five passengers.
